what method of further education is right for you?

These days, there are even more options when it comes to furthering your education. Do you attend a community college, a university or do you complete an online virtual college course? What method of furthering your education will be most suited for you? I created this blog as I worked with my daughter to find the best way for her to obtain the degree that she wanted. We searched, interviewed and dug into all of the different methods of further education and have included it right here for you. Hopefully, the days and weeks that we spent researching will help you as much as it helped my daughter.

3 Exams To Ace On Your Way To Becoming An Anesthesiologist

by Annette Miles

The road to becoming an anesthesiologist is one of the most rigorous and extensive for any medical profession. Students are put through a number of years of schooling that begin with an undergraduate degree. During this time, students have to excel in a number of exams in order to become an anesthesiologist. The first test begins when students are applying for medical school, and doing well creates a solid foundation for their future career. As a result, it is important to know which exams you need to take so that you can plan ahead of time.

Medical School Admission Test (MCAT)

The MCAT is one of the most commonly known medical exams. This test is administered to students who are interested in attending medical school. The MCAT is probably the most important exam out of the three exams listed because it helps to set the foundation for your future. A good score will help you to get into a good medical school. The test is offered several times a year and consists of four sections:

  • Physical Sciences
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Biological Sciences
  • Trial Section

United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE)

All physicians need to take and pass the USMLE before they are able to practice in the United States. The test is broken up into three steps, with step two being broken down even further. Each step is taken at different stages through a student's medical school career. Each step is very rigorous as they categorized as one-day examinations. Biochemistry and microbiology are only a few of the many subjects that are covered in detail in the exam. The exam is designed to test what you know as well as how well you perform in different clinical situations.

Anesthesiology Board Exam

The Anesthesiology board exam is given to physicians that are enrolled in the anesthesiology residency program. The test is administered in two parts but is shorter than the USMLE. Part one of the exam is designed to test your knowledge of the information taught throughout your residency. Part two focuses around clinical scenarios and it is used to test how well a candidate can handle themselves in different situations.

While these exams may seem a bit daunting and meticulous, the rewards are often higher since anesthesiologists are compensated with six-figure salaries. Take the time to carve out your road to becoming an anesthesiologist and use this as a reference. For more information and advice, contact a school like ASA College.
